i was a law clerk.
the first time i realized what i was getting myself into was when i had to call a lawyer because my client (well, the firm's client, i didn't even have a license) and his client were fighting over couch cushions.
... some background... i am a divorce attorney. i have been called many names because of this, but i have no trouble sleeping at night. i don't create these shitty marriages, i just help people navigate out of them. i haven't been doing this for long, but i've been told my personality is perfect for this line of work. i take that as a compliment.
back to the couch cushions.... the partner whose case i was working on was on vacation (again). the client called and having met me a few times asked for me when he was told the real lawyer was unavailable. he asked me to call his wife's attorney because she took the couch cusions from the house while he was out of town. so i called. i really thought the other attorney would laugh. instead he said he would talk to his client and then he said "this is what you have to look forward to." he was right.
